Hi there!
I finally found some time to write down my side of the story!
How much I hated to say goodbye to al the lovely people in NZ (I really miss you guys already)that's also how much I looked forward to going home and see all the lovely people there!
The surprise party was a tricky situation for my family: They had to arrange it at home and therefore make sure that I wasn't there before 20h. Jan had to take care of the latter. He took me out on a day trip to the Belgian coast, but deep down I just wanted to stay at home... So everything he tried, made me ask even more just to go home: walking along the beach, visiting Nieuwpoort city, going for pancakes in Bruge, ice cream in Gent, visiting the Royal Gardens in Brussels... Finally he gave in and drove towards his home, but - what I found strange- his speed was only 90km/h where you were allowed 120... Something wasn't right I figured! In the end he had to tell me something (becaus I'm a horrible creature when I'm left out on a secret)and he made up that Elise and her parents came for dinner that night and my mum wanted to surprise me... Maybe the surprise was't complete anymore, but still I couldn't have imagined all the people that were there!! It was great to see everybody that fast!!
Last week Jan and I spent a couple of days in 'De Ardennen' and we had the best time! I also went for a job interview this week and they told me I could start working next monday (4th of may)! Jihaa!
Well, I think I've told enough now... this will be the last post on this blog. From now on it's e-mail, texting, telephone calls etc... Keep in touch!

Two sides of every story: Elise
Although it was not fun saying goodbye in New Zealand, it was good to come home again. Lots of things are different but the sheep along the highway and the ferns in our garden made me happy. I haven't been driving yet because my parents don't trust me in the car yet: it's weird to drive on the right side all at once...!
Saturday, 2 days after our plane landed in Brussels, I was already up at 6am because our biorithme needs a couple of days to adapt to this timezone again. I had a nicely filled day making brownies, going Nordic Walking with dad and seeing that Belgium is not so bad after all, going to the shops with mum, ... That evening they told me we were going to meet the family of my brothers girlfriend (also named Elise Vdw). They got engaged in februari so this plan to get together was announced a long time ago. I was already getting a bit tired when we left... I found it quite a coincidence that her (Elise's) brother lived in the same direction of Jo-Anne's house but still had no idea what was waiting for us.
Only at the moment that I woke up again in the car and saw Jo-Anne's house and some of our best friends, only thèn I realised that it was all set up and that they had organised a Surprise/Welcome Back party!
It was absolutely great and although we were soooo tired, the adrenaline of the surprise and the rush of seeing everybody again, kept us going untill 3am.

Voila, het is zover, onze laatste post vanuit het mooiste land ter wereld: Nieuw-Zeeland!
Eerst en vooral: het beloofde beeldmateriaal! De twee filmpjes! En nog wat afscheidsfoto’s…
Als toemaatje hebben we voor u allen nog een klein ‘wist je dat’-lijstje:
Wist je dat:
- De zon hier wel in het noorden komt, elke dag zelfs? Wat nu met dat regeltje dat ze ons op school leerde over dat de zon Nooit in het Noorden komt?
- Elise soms praat in haar slaap? In het Engels? En bijvoorbeeld complimenten geeft over de kleding van Jo-Anne tijdens haar droom…?
- Nieuw-Zeelanders supersympathiek zijn, behalve als ze moeten aanschuiven (te voet of in auto)…? Ze zijn het absoluut niet gewend en worden dus heel ongeduldig!
- Elise hier 4 sjaals gebreid heeft en Jo-Anne 1?
- De kiwi (vogel) hier zelden in het wild wordt gezien?
- Elise altijd haar sokken probeert te combineren met iets wat ze aan heeft, al is het maar de kleur van haar onderbroek?
- Dankzij Jo-Anne haar systeem onze kofferbak 2 maanden lang netjes bleef?
- ‘Jandals’ (contaminatie van Japanese Sandels, teenslippers dus) hier de algemene footware is in de zomer?
- Jo-Anne soms niet zo proper is als ze lijkt en ooit 24u in dezelfde outfit rondliep/sliep?
- Elise eens ribbetjes at (de enigste keer in een restaurant) en de saus tot achter haar oren zat?
- Ze hier links rijden op de weg?
- De Zuid-Eilanders heel trots zijn op hun ‘mooiste’ eiland en vinden dat je dus het Noord-Eiland eigenlijk niet moet bezoeken?
- Dat we dankzij Elise haar doorzetten 2 ongelofelijk mooie uitzichten hebben gezien? (Avalanche Peak en McKinnen Pass)
- Jo-Anne een huwelijksaanzoek kreeg van een Duitser tijdens hun eerste gesprek?
- Hier de dagen korter zijn dan in België (zelfs in de zomer wordt het rond negen uur donker)?
- Jo-Anne ongeveer 1260 keer naar de WC is geweest, wat overeenkomt met 2520 minuten of 42 uur? En Elise maar wachten…
- Elise vroeg: “Ostrich? Is da een ooievaar?” En Jo-Anne diezelfde dag beweerde dat er 256 dagen in een jaar zijn? Moet toch iets in dat natuurlijke bronwater hier zijn…
- …
That’s all folks! Rest ons nog iedereen nog eens dubbel en dik te bedanken voor alle enthousiaste mails, toffe reacties en gewoonweg iedereen die ons vroeg of laat eens gevolgd heeft op deze blog!

Finally: MOVIES!
Hello everybody!
We've had some trouble with the uploading of our last video before we left for the South Island (At the Mills'). We already promised it to you two months ago but finally we've got it sorted out so that it's out on the world wide web for you al to see!
On top of that we've been busy making a few other magnificent movies the last couple of days (with shots of the last 2 months), in between our goodbyes... So you can enjoy all the action again on the right side of this page under 'Bewegende Beeldjes'!
And if you're still keen on seeing some more, you have to come back and check this blog in a couple of days... there're still 2 more great video's under construction!

P.S. We don't really get the 'Monty Python' film yet but it's in honour of Peter en Maarten de Beukelaar... Just to make sure you don't think we completely lost our mind! :)
